Together with renowned partners from industry and research, RACE RESULT has been working on the optimization of plastics manufacturing technology since August. In a new process, future transponder versions should be able to be manufactured more cost-effectively and sustainably. New developments compared to the state-of-the-art The Lite2Duro lightweight construction project is about improving injection molding processes with which the RACE RESULT active transponders can then also be produced. Electronic components are overmoulded with duromer plastics. The research project aims to make production more economical and energy-efficient. "Duromer plastics are very well suited to manufacturing geometrically complex components with high demands on dimensional accuracy and degree of functionality," says project engineer Robert Maertens from the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology. The research facility has taken over the management of the project and is located in the immediate vicinity of the RACE RESULT company headquarters in Pfinztal, Germany. Expanding opportunities for future products “We are pleased to be able to participate in this exciting project together with many other technology leaders from Germany. When transferring the research into industrial application, we can certainly provide valuable input. New processes always mean new possibilities for future products, ” says RACE RESULT CTO Nikias Klohr, pleased about the successful start of the three-year project. The project consortium is made up of industrial and research partners along the entire value chain for thermoset plastics.
