Chip Race Number

The Chip Race Number is the best choice for all running events. It is made from Tyvek 75g/m². Standard sizes are 21x14.8cm (A5) and 23x20cm. Print is full color on the front and b/w on the back. The back side print can be customized partly.

The Chip Race Number can have either one or two chips. RACE RESULT recommends one redundancy: either two chips and one timing line, or one chip and two timing lines. Many timers use one chip, main+backup for start and finish and one line for split timing points.

Bib Transponder on Roll

If you would like to source the bibs somewhere else, you can buy the Bib Transopnders on a Roll and attach them manually to the bibs.

Make sure to attach the chips in vertical orientation:

Chip MTB Plate

The Chip MTB Plate compares to the Chip Race Number, but it is made from a 300g/m² PVC substrate and thus is much thicker and harder. It is made to be attached to the handlebars using cable straps.

Note that the transponders do not need spacers since they are not attached to the human body. In consequence, the Chip MTB Plate is much thinner than the Chip Race Number.

Disposable Triathlon Tag

The Disposable Triathlon Tag is the alternative to the RACE RESULT HuTag and the active transponders. It is significantly less expensive and does not need to be collected after the race.

Note that the transponder does not work under a wetsuit! RACE RESULT also recommends a main and backup line for the Disposable Triathlon Tag.

Here is how to wear the transponder correctly:

Chip Bike Tag

The Chip Bike Tag is attached on the seatpost for cycling events. It is the alternative to the active transponders for big cycling events. You do not need a large number of expensive active transponders and you do not need to collect these after the race.

The Chip Bike Tag can be used with the Side Antennas so that you can have a flat finish line.

RACE RESULT HuTag

The RACE RESULT HuTag is mostly used for triathlons, attached to the ankle using a Neoprene Velcro strap.

The main advantage compared to active transponders is the low cost. But it comes with one drawback: passive transponders are sensitive to water.

For optimum read rates, we recommend:

  • to ensure a direct line of sight between the HuTag and the antenna. The HuTag should especially not be covered by a wetsuit or the strap. It needs to be mounted in a way that ensures the chip code is always visible.
  • to place your systems at the water exit as far away from the water as possible, so the water surrounding the HuTag has time to evacuate before reaching the detection line.

Here is how to mount the HuTag optimally:

A-Z Bib Transponder

The A-Z Bib Transponder compares to the Transponders on Roll, but they come in rols of 1000 pcs and are programmed with a chip code like G-842. In RACE RESULT 12 you will need a Chip File to use these transponders.

The main advantage of this product is that you can buy large amounts of transponders (for a lower price) and decide lateron for which bib numbers the transponders will be used.

The rolls have a random letter, A to Z. If you order several rolls they will come with different letter codes.

RACE RESULT Baton

The RACE RESULT Baton is used for relay races.

Passive Transponder FAQ

Active Transponders

Read these Specifications to find out the differences between the different active transponders.

ActivePro Transponder

The ActivePro Transponder is the best-selling active transponder and is mostly used for cycling, skiing, inline skating, triathlon, mud races, motocross events and stand up paddling. It is suitable for most events where high-speed and high precision are required, within the limits stated in the specifications.

The ActivePro V3 Performance Transponder is the high-end solution for elite races and offers even higher redundancy.

ActiveBasic Transponder

The ActiveBasic Transponder has less precision than the ActivePro transponder but is significantly cheaper. It is mostly used for large events like mud races or large triathlons.

MotorKart Transponder

The MotorKart Transponder has the highest precision and can be used at speeds up to 200km/h. It is mostly used for karting.

Technical Specification

Active Chip Holder

The Active Chip Holder is mostly used for the MotorKart transponder to attach the transponder to a kart and to ensure that the transponder is not in direct contact with metal. There are three ways how to attach the holder:

  1. Use one of the O rights to attach it to a pipe.
  2. Feed a cable strap through the holes.
  3. Use a screw.
