Decoder Battery Test

It may happen that the decoder shows battery status: DEFECT or you are not fully satisfied with your decoder's battery performance.

This means that the decoder has detected a sudden voltage drop, which is an indicator that the battery might be damaged, or your battery has simply reduced its overall performance.

To test your battery out, you should follow these few steps:

  1. Fully charge your system overnight.
  2. Connect at least two passive antenna elements and place transponders within range of the antenna.
  3. Make sure that the detection mode is set to "detection every dt ms (legacy)" (change this back after the test): you can find it under Menu>Detection>Mode.
  4. Turn on and activate the system so it is recording data then disconnect any external power supply.
  5. Leave it running and wait till the system shuts down by itself.
  6. Connect power and read the last passing file and determine the difference in time between the first and last recorded passings.

If you experience a shorter than expected battery life, you may want to consider a replacement.
