Timing solution for
Mud Run/ Obstacle Run

In principle, both types of timing are possible with mud runs: the active or the passive solution. Our rule of thumb: "If the race bib is no longer legible at the finish, active is a must." Regardless of the rule of thumb, the active solution is definitely recommended for mud runs and obstacle courses. Only here we can guarantee 100 % detection rates, even in the thickest mud. Optionally, you can use the Loop Boxes (or, for longer distances, the Track Box Active) to easily record split times.

Spartan, the world’s leading endurance sports and extreme wellness brand, uses RACE RESULT’s timing technology at its events. At all 250 Spartan races across 40 countries, RACE RESULT active systems and transponders ensure reliable data processing and uncomplicated handling of timing equipment.

The timing at Spartan events is carried out with active transponders, which the participants wear on their wrists. The transponders are particularly robust and 100% waterproof, and they work under extreme conditions. Results are published on Spartan.com and are used for series rankings.

Setup

Depending on where your finish line is, you can attach the loop of your Ubidium timing system to the grass with plastic pegs and cover it with a rubber mat. When crossing the finish line in the mud, dig the loop deep enough beforehand. We recommend the use of empty pipes. The athletes wear the transponder with a Velcro strap directly on their ankle.
Connect Ubidium to a laptop via WiFi or LAN to get all finish times in real time. In RACE RESULT 12, use the "Standard Event" template. This template is the perfect place to start and may already have everything you need.

RACE RESULT 12 Software

The complete software for timing and managing of any kind of sports event. The intuitive user interface allows you to setup events without complicated formulas or calculations. Featuring registration, event timing, scoring, live results and various output options in one browser-based solution.

Optional:
Loop Box

Easy and cost-effective way to collect splits times. At nearby timing points detections are repeated wirelessly to the main system. In case of remote timing points, the ActivePro Transponder saves the passing time and then transmits them when arriving at the finish. Integrated battery for 12-20 h.

Optional:
Track Box Active

Provide tracking and timing with the same active transponder. Track Boxes placed along the course or on race vehicles receive pings from all tracking-enabled transponders within a 50 m radius and transmit the data live online.
